Spiritual Practices: Rituals, Icons & Faith is the exploration of the various aspects pertaining to contemporary Korean American spiritual practices. Spirituality has played and continues to play a major role in society, education, and politics, especially as Korean Americans emerge into mainstream American society and carry with them imported Korean religious traditions. As it focuses on the three major spiritual practices in the Korean community, this exhibition will examine contemporary manifestations of "traditional religious forms" such as Buddhism and shamanistic custom as well as the emergent forms of Korean Christianity grounded in a tradition founded over 100 years ago. In addition, the exhibit will emphasize the endurance of the primacy of spiritual practices among Korean Americans as a testament to cultural continuity. February 4 - March 1, 2000 Korean
